Talk about feisty, gutsy women! Ida Gillette was a major business owner, suffragist and Sayville influencer on social issues over 100 years ago. Appropriately her family’s Gillette House overlooking Gillette Park is home to several not for profits headquartered here. Ida finally got a plaque honoring her, now on the Gillette House front door, thanks to the efforts of the American Association of University Women’s Islip Area Long Island Suffragists Project and its member, Bayport resident Lynn Reylek Perry who researched Ida.
