Local Documentary Filmmaker Wins Awards

East Patchogue resident and documentary filmmaker Campbell Dalglish has won significant awards for the PBS film “Savage Land.” Read about Dalglish’s 9-year quest to make the film, which incorporated Mah-hi-vist Goodblanket’s shooting after police received a 911 call in 2013 from his parents that their son was agitated in Custer County, Oklahoma. It also includes Dr. Henrietta Mann, a distinguished educator known as Prayer Woman and Mah-hi-vist’s grandmother, and her description of how American Indians in Oklahoma survive after 200 years of forced relocation, massacres, persecution, violence and discrimination.
