Here I am with Plaza Cinema co-founder Catherine Oberg and Voices Rising Film Festival visionary Jaret Martino attending the “Knock Out Blonde” documentary on opening night about transgender boxing promoter Kellie Maloney, who guided Lennox Lewis to become the heavyweight boxing champ of the world. The film was a beautiful, sensitive, and honest portrayal of living with a conflicting gender identity, her professional life, her family, their reactions and the poignancy, tough times and ultimate acceptance of her journey becoming a transgender woman. Kellie, who returned to boxing promotion, flew in from England for this profound film festival debut and received a standing ovation.
