Local Led The Call For Ukrainian Donations

Local activist and kind person James Bertsch recently led the call for #UkrainianDonations that were collected at Sayville Congregational United Church of Christ. A friend involved with the #PeacePoleProject and #PatchoguePeaceProject, contacted him, and Bertsch called on Pastor Ray Bagnuolo for permission to use Fellowship Hall as a drop off space. The clothing and other items were being trucked over to Saints Peter and Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church in West Islip on Higbie Lane. They would then be flown over to refugee camps in Poland. Bertsch rented a 26-foot U-Haul that was filled by days end; people just kept pouring in lugging clothing, diapers, personal items, coats.
